Deploying Axual

With Platform Version 2023.4, we have introduced a new way of deploying the Axual platform, the Axual Streaming and Governance Helm charts, where previous installations were still using Axual Helm Charts. Read more about it below.

Axual Streaming and Governance Charts

The architecture of Axual platform consists of two planes: Data plane and Control plane. Each plane has its own helm charts to deploy its services. This simplifies the separation between components that build the data cluster from the components that control multiple data clusters

Data Plane

The Data plane consists of all the components defining the Kafka cluster where the data is stored. Among other components, it contains Apache Kafka (Strimzi) and Schema Registry.

Control Plane

The Governance plane consists of all the components controlling one or more Kafka clusters. Among other components, it includes the Self-Service UI.

When we talk about platform services that together form Axual Platform, we use the terms Instance level, Cluster level, Client level and Management Level regularly. The different levels form either a logical or physical segregation introduced for security or availability purposes.

Axual Helm Charts will have its last release as part of platform release 2024.1. For new installations, Axual Governance and Axual Streaming helm charts should be used.

To deploy the platform on kubernetes with the Axual Helm Charts, a combination of Axual Operator and Axual Helm Charts are used:
